About Us
Building community
One of the most important breakthroughs in the development of a martial arts practitioner is the understanding, that what one can do in the dojo or on the mats, does not necessarily translate into what one can do on the street under the stress of combat.
At Trinity we provide students with various tools for self-defense or ring sports, all in a friendly environment.
Why Choose Us

Features
Savate and Jeet Kune Do
Strength and Flexibility
Savate and JKD require you to use all parts of your body. Your arms, legs and core. This will help to improve these areas.
Cardiovascular health
Similar to many martial arts Savate and JKD can help improve your endurance and heart health.
Stress Relief
Engaging in physical activity can help reduce stress and anxiety.
Cognitive health
Start your own ‘movement revolution’ as a pathway to greater health and wellbeing. Paul McCarthy suggests that complex movements may have different affects than well learned movements on cognitive function.
Self-defense
Developing your overall sense of awareness, and skills, helps your confidence should a self-defense situation arise.
Improved Co-ordination
The study of Savate and JKD requires development of balance and precision.

Shawn Gliddon
Savate Silver Glove
Shawn began his training in the martial arts over 30 years ago with Judo and Boxing classes at a local YMCA. He also trained in Shotokan Karate and 7 Star Mantis, before finding his way to Jeet Kune Do and Kali under Dale Johns and his Intengral Combat System in 1996. He continued his training at ICS under Ron Ingram, Carla Nonni, and John Glover after Dale Johns passed away. In 2001 Shawn started assisting and teaching classes at ICS and York University until the club closed its doors in 2004. That same year he began training under Scott Redstone at Trinity Martial Arts. Shawn is ranked as an Instructor in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Kali under Professor Salem Assli of the Inosanto Academy, and also holds the rank of Silver Glove and Innitiator in Savate / Boxe Francaise.
Testimonials
What People Are Saying
“Great place to learn a variety of martial arts disciplines, following the JKD discipline of integrating what works and discarding what doesn’t. The instructors are funny, down-to-earth, informative, and know their stuff. Class sizes are typically pretty small so you get a LOT of personal attention. There is no ranking system and you often get to learn/work on advanced/effective techniques without having to spend years waxing on and off. Highly recommend Trinity to anyone with an interest or passion for martial arts.”
“Shawn is a great instructor and everyone’s super nice. Both beginners and advanced students attend his classes, so it’s good for everyone.”
“Shawn and Anisha are both excellent coaches and receptive to working with people of all skill levels. Thanks to their enthusiasm and introducing me to savate as practiced by the late Salem Assli, I’ve developed a passion for savate. The students are all extremely friendly and it’s an inclusive environment.”
